Aus der Wikipedia: Der von Hans Brüggemann von 1514 bis 1521 aus Eichenholz gefertigte Altar ist 12,60 Meter hoch und schildert (nach Holzschnitten aus Dürers Kleiner Passion) mit 392 Figuren die biblische Passionsgeschichte von der Gefangennahme Jesu bis zu Christi Himmelfahrt. Im Mittelfeld sind Kreuztragung und Höllenfahrt durch größere Formate hervorgehoben. Himmelfahrt und Pfingsten werden auf den Seitenflügeln abgebildet. Neben dem hochgezogenen Mittelteil sind Adam und Eva dargestellt. Über allem schwebt Christus als Pantokrator.
