So he is going to send soldiers tokill the Son of God. How could our dear St. Joseph tell this awful news to Our Lady? But he had to.The Bible sa.ys that St. Joseph arose andtook the Child and His Mother by night,so that the journey must have been begunat once. We can almost see our dear, goodSt. Joseph getting ready. Perhaps he ledout the strong little donkey that had carriedOur Lady from Nazareth to Bethlehem,and Our Lady sat upon it, holding the dearLord, while St. Joseph led it. In tliis waythey left Bethlehem, where Christ was bornon Christmas daij in a stable over nineteenhundred years ago. They did not know whatthey were going to do in Egypt, but Maryand St. Joseph were very sure that God wouldtake care of them. 30
